Meet Trish & Nacho (Formerly Binx, adopted 2/18/2019)
“A friend (who had been telling me to get a cat for years) told me about Annenberg PetSpace and then I started following them on Instagram. When I finally visited, you could really tell they cared and made the process as easy as possible for people looking to adopt.
I had actually seen Nacho (formerly Binx) online and he had the most amazing lion cut, which caught my eye. Then when I went to the center a few months later he was featured in one of the suites and all of the staff raved about him. They later told me he was 'highly food motivated' so I knew we'd be perfect for each other.
When I first got Nacho, he was a little shy and standoffish mostly hiding under my bed. I was worried he wouldn't warm to me. After a few days of feeding him (again food motivated), he started to get used to me and I think he realized this was a more permanent situation. He doesn't love to be held but is he is the BEST snuggler, doubling as an electric blanket.
He even greets me at the door when I come home from work with purrs asking for belly rubs - I think he thinks he's a dog. I think greeting me at the door is one of my favorite traits of his. He literally talks, says hello by rubbing against my leg and then falls over as he awaits his belly rub. He also loves to play fetch with treats, which is amusing. I'm always glad to come home and see him.
He is the most chill cat ever and the right combo of independent but affectionate. When friends come over, he just wants to hang, will rub against your legs or feet, but isn't at all needy. He's always nearby keeping me company.
Cats are known for being independent, but also having their person. It's hard to articulate, but having that bond is probably the best part. I had back surgery not too long after I adopted him and was basically laid out for 2 weeks. It was like he could tell and never left my side, which was pretty awesome.”
