Meet Pinot: A Studio and Outdoor Dog Photography Session in Los Angeles

Every dog has a personality that deserves to be captured, and Pinot the goldendoodle has more than most. When his dads, Michael and Aaron, booked a session, they came with a clear vision: they wanted to capture every side of him, from the goofy studio grins to the wild energy he brings the second a ball comes out.
So we did both. A studio setup and an outdoor shoot, all in one session, to show the full range of who this boy is.
One Dog, One Obsession: The Ball
If you know a ball-driven dog, you know Pinot. No matter where we were, one thing stayed the same. The ball. Ball everywhere. It's the fastest way to his heart and the quickest way to unlock his best expressions.
Michael and Aaron especially wanted to show how passionately Pinot jumps for the ball, and we got it. All four paws off the ground, every single time. Those mid-air moments are some of my favorites from the whole session, and they're exactly the kind of thing a dog parent wants to remember for years.
Why Shoot Both Studio and Outdoors?
A combined session gives you the best of both worlds. The studio delivered clean, colorful backdrops for the goofy grins, the bubble chaos, and yes, more ball. Bright, bold, and full of personality.
Then we headed outdoors for the zoomies, the natural light, and those wild jumps in an open setting. Grass underfoot, room to run, and a completely different energy.
Together, the two settings tell the whole story of a dog. The playful studio portraits and the free, joyful action shots. That's the magic of capturing a personality as big as Pinot's.
